You picked out some really pretty fabric! I think out of the ones I have seen , yours turned out the best.

The pattern may not have indicated stay stitching along edges, as a lot of pattern makers just “assumed” that home sewists (sewers?) knew to stay stitch necklines, sleeve holes and or side curves. And bias drop also drastically varies, depending on the fabric. I personally wouldn’t risk it, because I made that mistake when I was first starting to sew, gosh… 30 years ago? 😂 My poor dress looked so wonky, and it was for an event.

This is a sew along for people who know exactly what they are doing. Im following this pattern but for shorts and I'm sorry to say, maybe this only applies to myself, but this has made trying to follow the actual instructions very confusing!

A tips when using paper as a stabiliser while sewing the fabric, be careful when trying to pull the paper off, so you don’t tear the fabric apart. A good idea is to try the method on a piece of scrap fabric before.

I don’t want to be critical but the collar seems to be skewed , off center. I am not sure if it’s how you are sitting but I noticed it in all the scenes…it is cute and fits you perfectly.

Maybe you could wear a t-shirt underneath so that you are not fully exposed when using the bathroom.

I grew up in the 60s. There were some really fun fabrics at the time. My favorite style had a center pattern that my mom would sew in a complementary fabric. But the dresses were absolutely horrible to sit in. The dress goes way up the leg when sitting. Jr. high is not the place to wear these dresses while trying to be modest. My girlfriends and I soon appreciated wearing pants to school.

I’ve got the pattern but I don’t know how I’m supposed to be cutting my fabric to the pattern. I’m starting this completely from beginner with a straight stitch only machine which I’m realising is probably not a good circumstance… 😅

So I'm a total beginner trying to make this and I haven't even cut my fabric out because I'm so confused just by the instructions that show how to lay out the pattern pieces on the fabric. The shapes don't seem to be in proportion and the curved waistband piece seems like it has been mirrored. I can't start until I know how to cut the fabric out and I'm getting a little frustrated with the dang thing. I wish the shapes were labeled which pattern piece they're supposed to be
